“Happiness is a by product of an effort to make someone else happy”
-  Greta Brooker Palmer

Memory JAR is a tax-exempt organization under the Section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Service.  We depend largely upon private donations to cover operational and philanthropic expenses (see Mission Statement).

In the wake of our grief, we have found comfort in providing service to other families.  Helping others in the honor of a loved one is done by others as well.  Following are a few wonderful people we have met along the way who are also helping make the world a better place.  If you know of others who have channeled their grief into something worthwhile, please submit your story on our Share Your Thoughts page.

Camp Hope was created after Dan Hebertdied of leukemia in 2000. Dan's wife, Lynn realized the need for a strong support network for children struggling with grief. After much thought and planning, Lynn decided to create a camp to help children cope with the grieving process. Camp Hope is staffed by volunteers who have experienced loss in their own lives. Attending Camp Hope is about having fun, receiving support, and learning that one is never alone in their grief. The Taylor Family Foundation generously offers Camp Arroyo free of charge and we raise money throughout the year so that Camp Hope can be offered free of charge to campers.

Ben's Bells symbolize kindness and its power in healing. After Ben, age 3, died in 2002, the family found peace in creating the bells. Today, they are distributed randomly in their community to encourage kindness. We hope that they will touch others' lives and help to make our community a more gentle place to live.
