A mother never stops being a mother. When James died, the only passion I had left was to make sure no one EVER forgot him. His life WAS special. I spent hours creating different gifts and memorials about James for friends and family. I noticed that it helped me with my grief and other people loved it too. I still use this same passion to help other people going through grief and try to bring some hope, peace and comfort to their lives.

As James’ younger brother and best friend, I have the privilege of living life for two. Since a young age, I always looked up and admired everything he did. It is that passion and admiration I have for my brother that has led me to continue on his legacy at Memory JAR and beyond. My passion manifested into living my life to the fullest and making James proud of everything I do.

As James’ aunt, I watched him grow into such a loving and family oriented man. His unconceivable death destroyed our family in so many ways. My involvement in Memory JAR is my way of loving James and keeping his life, spirit and love of family alive. We are able to offer other people the support and help that we have learned through our own journey.

Memory JAR is close to my heart because I was with James when his young life slipped away. I was his girlfriend, and dealing with the loss of a loved one is the hardest struggle that I ever had to go through. Memorializing James in beautiful ways helps us all to heal.   James was and still is a huge part of all of our lives, and is the reason we have Memory JAR – a wonderful cause that everyone will need to help them through grief.
